The focus of the piece is the the Red Queen theory, seen in biology, a pattern which explains how species co-evolve. As one species gains an advantage, the other species then fights harder to evolve and gain it’s own advantage, and so on. This pattern can be seen across many walks of life, including business, social etiquette and relationships. This duet asks how is progress made through competition, as a necessity rather than a choice? A constant oscillation of power keeping the status quo in a more or less equilibrium. This highly physical dance-theatre piece draws on the performers Bboying and contemporary backgrounds as well as aspects of stage magic and showmanship, all whilst attempting to stay true to the science behind the theory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the residency in wpZimmer, Luke Jessop and Karenina Lambrechts will work on the duet. They start to put together some early ideas that they have and see how they work within the space.
